How the main bet types differ and when each fits.
The basic bet types: moneyline (one side wins, or a draw), handicap (an artificial edge to balance the odds), totals (over/under a set number of goals or points) and parlays (several events in one bet with multiplied odds). Parlays offer high potential payouts, but risk grows multiplicatively: a single miss loses the whole bet.
