The idea of positive-expectation bets and why it is hard to execute.
Value betting is a bet where, by your estimate, the true probability of an outcome is higher than the bookmaker's odds imply. In theory a series of such bets has positive expectation. In practice it is extremely hard: bookmakers build in margin and adjust lines fast, and very few can estimate probabilities better than the market. For most players value betting does not guarantee profit — treat betting as entertainment.
